Four-time boxing world champion Ricky Hatton has died aged 46.

The British boxing great was reportedly found unresponsive in his Hyde, Greater Manchester, home on Sunday.

The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed a body had been found.

“Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45am today, where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”

Born Richard John Hatton in Stockport, England, he competed in the welterweight division between 1997 and 2012.

Hatton, who was one of Britain’s most popular athletes during his prime, was crowned world champion when he stunned Australian Kosta Tszyu in 2005 for the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Ring, and lineal titles.

He went on to battle Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao and came up short. Hatton’s boxing record reads; 48 fights, 45 wins (32 by knockout) and three defeats.

He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2024.

Hatton was also a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), a British honor awarded for outstanding service or achievement to the community.
