Bafana Bafana and Burnley striker Lyle Foster’s second Premier League goal this season could prove to be one of the most important for the Lancashire club.

The 25-year-old came off the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers to net a winner at the death for a 3-2 win at the Molineux Stadium on Sunday to hand Burnley maximum points, a result that moved the Clarets up to 16th spot and out of the relegation zone nine matches into the season.

“I feel amazing and ecstatic, and more than anything, I’m happy for the team,” Foster said post-match.

“I think we deserved it, especially going two goals up and with the performance we showed. I was just blessed to score the winner. It’s an amazing feeling, and more than anything, I’m just happy for the boys.

“It was amazing in front of the away fans, hearing them cheering. I feel like the boys deserve it after the season we’ve had so far. We’ve had some luck not on our side, losing games in the last minute; it was nice to finally win one in the last minute,” continued Foster, whose first goal of the campaign came in the 96th minute in the 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in late August.

Foster will now hope to start in Burnley’s next encounter when they host Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday.

“Our home is our fortress, and I think we’ve shown that we are able to get points there, but to be able to get them away as well helps us a lot. It fills us with confidence, and it makes the journey back home a lot quicker and nicer! Hopefully, we’ll get a few more away this season.

“We’ll enjoy this one and will focus on the next game at Turf on Saturday.”
