Orlando Pirates have pulled off a major coup in the transfer market, albeit on a free move.
The Buccaneers have welcomed former SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Sekhukhune United midfielder Sipho Mbule.
And their enemies Kaizer Chiefs supporters would be gutted after Pirates’ announcement on Tuesday.
Chiefs were offered the man nicknamed ‘MasterChef’ for his midfield control, by his agent, Mike Makaab. Amakhosi, however, were not keen, considering the player’s checkered past.
While there’s a consensus on his footballing talent, Mbule’s wayward behaviour is well-documented, but the Chiefs supporters were calling for him nonetheless.
Pirates, however, stepped up their chase recently and concluded the deal, much to the joy of those in Black and White.
The 27-year-old Mbule has been around the Premier Soccer League (PSL) block for a while. He came through the development structure at SuperSport United before making his senior team debut in 2017.
He moved to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2022 and was loaned out last term. Recently, Sundowns decided against taking up their option to renew the contract, and he was let go, and Pirates have not wasted time turning him into a Buccaneer.
Mbule has played 169 PSL games over the years, scoring 16 goals and creating 14 assists.
Now for the Pirates adventure, and the nation awaits the start of the season.
