Kaizer Chiefs will soon announce changes to their technical team, with head coach Nasreddine Nabi taking the fall.

The Tunisian was asked to step aside on Wednesday morning following Amakhosi’s 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

This was Chiefs’ first defeat of the season in six games, but it would appear there is more to his sacking than meets the eye.

Nabi has allegedly breached his contract with the club, as he may not have a valid coaching license and therefore would be barred from sitting on the bench during Chiefs’ CAF Confederation Cup campaign, starting in the first-round preliminary qualifier against Girabola side Kabuscorp S.C.P on Saturday.

To coach in CAF inter-club competitions (like the Champions League and Confederation Cup), the head coach must hold a CAF A License or an equivalent Pro License from another confederation (like UEFA Pro Licence).

At this stage, it is not clear why Nabi’s coaching qualifications may not be valid, but there are suggestions he did not renew the licence. The coach, however, insisted he has a valid licence.

Nabi’s assistants Khalil Ben Youssef (First Assistant Coach) and Cedric Kaze (Second Assistant Coach) are expected to take over in the interim.

The club is yet to comment on this latest development from Naturena.
