Limpopo Education Department Pays Two Principals At One School

Limpopo Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya and her officials inspect a school building project. The provincial Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) heard that some officials signed off tenders at their own discretion, disbursing monies that were not approved by the head of the department (HOD) and the chief financial officer (CFO).

The Limpopo education department has been accused of wasting taxpayers’ money on salaries for two principals sharing a position at Seshego High School outside Polokwane for a period exceeding two years.  In 2019, the first principal was charged with misconduct and dismissed.
