Call for papers opens for international event on sustainable development and global transformation

The BRICS Research Institute supported by University of Venda and Durban University of Technology in collaboration with University of Campinas and RUDN University, has announced a call for papers for the 5th BRICS Postgraduate Forum, set to take place from 9 to 11 June 2026 at the University of Campinas in Brazil. TV BRICS will serve as the international media partner of the event.
Held under the theme“BRICS and Sustainable Development in a Multipolar World: Governance, Innovation, and Market Transformation”, the forum will bring together Master’s and PhD students, as well as postdoctoral researchers, to explore the evolving role of BRICS countries in shaping global development and cooperation.
The initiative responds to the ongoing shift towards a multipolar global economy, where emerging markets play an increasingly prominent role. The forum is designed as a platform to foster academic dialogue, strengthen research capacity and promote collaboration across countries of the Global South.
According to the official website of the forum, participants will engage in a three-day academic programme featuring research presentations, expert discussions and keynote sessions. Selected papers will undergo a double-blind peer review process, with outstanding contributions recognised through awards for best Master’s and PhD papers. Accepted works may also be considered for publication in special issues and edited volumes.
The forum will cover a wide range of thematic areas, including governance and institutional reform, digital transformation, sustainable industrialisation, public health systems, education, urban development, and global financial architecture.
Abstract submissions are open until 15 April 2026, with acceptance notifications scheduled for 20 April and full paper submissions due by 19 May.
Organisers note that participation is limited to ensure balanced representation across BRICS and partner countries, highlighting the forum’s focus on building long-term international research networks and advancing policy-relevant scholarship.
