
Marble Hall – A 31-year-old man of Leeuwfontein was denied bail by the Marble Hall Magistrates’ Court today for allegedly stabbing pregnant girlfriend to death.
The court heard that on the 19th of August 2025, Happy Thabo Aphane stabbed his 23-year-old girlfriend who was four months pregnant several times and fled. The woman was certified dead at the scene of crime. Her lifeless body was discovered by the passerby who then called the police.
The accused who was in hiding was apprehended on 20th of August 2025 at Elandskraal outside the Marble Hall town.
The Regional Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said the accused has a history of criminality.
In May 2025, the deceased had opened a case of assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm against the Aphane, and later submitted a withdrawal statement in court resulting in the accused being released around July 2025, ” said Malabi – Dzhangi.
The matter was postponed to the 9th of September 2025 for the accused to find a legal representative and the accused remained in custody.
