President Hakainde Hichilema this morning officially welcomed Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel, who arrived in Zambia for a two-day State Visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations.

The Israeli leader was greeted with full military honors, including a 21-gun salute.
The visit by President Herzog is a reciprocal engagement following President Hichilema’s State Visit to Israel in 2023. It marks another significant step in advancing Zambia–Israel diplomatic and economic relations, which have been steadily growing in recent years.

In a statement shared this morning, President Hichilema said the two leaders will hold bilateral discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, technology, health, and trade.
“This visit reaffirms the strong and growing partnership between Zambia and Israel, founded on mutual respect and shared aspirations for development,” President Hichilema stated.

President Herzog’s visit also carries geopolitical significance, taking place amid the ongoing Gaza–Israel conflict that has drawn global attention. The visit is therefore seen as a demonstration of Zambia’s commitment to balanced diplomacy and dialogue in an increasingly complex international landscape.

President Herzog is expected to hold talks with President Hichilema at State House in Lusaka, followed by engagements with key government officials and business leaders before concluding his official programme on 11th November 2025.
