African Star Falls to his Death in China

Gabonese international Aaron Boupendza has passed away after falling from the 11th floor of a building in China.

The death of the 28-year-old has been confirmed by Gabon’s national football federation, Fegafoot.

“The Gabonese international died following a fall from the 11th floor of his building in China, where he was playing for Zhejiang FC,” the federation said in a statement on X.

“Aged 28, Boupendza leaves us with the memory of a great striker who left his mark on the CAN (Africa Cup of Nations) in Cameroon… Fegafoot and the entire Gabonese football family offer their sincere condolences to his family,” the federation added.

According to reports, an investigation is underway to establish the facts surrounding his death, and there are claims that he was with his brother when the incident occurred, with further claims that they had an argument.

Boupendza played in France, Portugal, Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Romania, and China.

He was capped 35 times by Gabon’s senior national side.
