Former Senegal and Libya coach Aliou Cissé will now guide Angola after agreeing on a four-year deal to coach their national side.
Cissé quit Libya a few days ago due to unpaid salaries, and he has taken charge of the Palancas Negras.
“I arrive here with great ambition and I am eager to start working with the group so that together we can write a beautiful story,” said Cissé, during his unveiling in Luanda, Angola’s capital.
Angolan Football Federation president Alves Simoes expressed confidence that Cissé will guide them in the right direction.
“Today is a day of renewal, a day on which we rekindle hope and reaffirm with conviction our ambition for the future of national football,” said Simoes.
“It symbolises our firm commitment to competence, innovation and the ability to build a team that brings pride to our country.”
Angola reached the Quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2023 but fell in the group stage in 2025.
Cissé, meanwhile, won the AFCON with Senegal in 2021.
