The long-awaited ANC Peter Mokaba regional elective conference is expected to finally sit with its business tomorrow, on Wednesday, 21 May 2025, after a series of delays due to unresolved branch appeals.

Limpopo provincial secretary Ruben Madadzhe has announced that the national disputes resolution committee (NDRC) has given the region a green light to proceed with its conference business.

“We have been advised by the National Chairperson ( Soviet Lekganyane) of the dispute resolution committee that all outstanding appeals will be finalised tomorrow – the 21st May 2025 at 12h00,” Madadzhe said.

He further announced that pre-registration for the conference is an advanced stage and it is anticipated to be complete by tonight the 20 of May 2025.

Madadzhe announced the developments during the party’s urgent media briefing on Tuesday night at Jack Botes hall.

The conference will commence on the 21 May 2025 at 13h00, at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, to elect new leadership that will lead the region for the next three years.

On Sunday, 19 May, after it was rumoured that the regional task team (RTT) was set to proceed with the business of the conference, 12 ANC members in the Peter Mokaba region wrote an urgent letter through its attorneys instructing the RTT to halt plans to proceed with conference, until the Provincial Dispute Resolution Commitee (PDRC) and National Dispute Resolution Commitee (NDRC) resolve outstanding disputes lodged by 24 branches.

Madadzhe says they have exhausted all internal dispute resolution processes and if anyone wants to challenge any matter in court, he is ready to defend the matter.

“We are not going to be entertaining disputes unendingly, we have responded to all aggrieved Peter mokaba disputes and we will not engage further with branches that had not responded our reply within the stipulated 48 hours,” said Madadzhe.

The region is hotly contested with City of Polokwane mayor John Mpe is seeking re-election as the chairperson for the third time, while Capricorn District municipality mayor and provincial chairperson of ANC Women’s league, Mamedupi Teffo is also vying for the same position.
