The ANC in Limpopo has placed its former Member of Parliament Boy Mamabolo on a temporary suspension for repeatedly insulting and threatening fellow party members on social media.

In recent days, Mamabolo went on a tirade against the party’s national executive committee (NEC) member Onnica Moloi and former ANC Youth League (ANCYL) chairperson Matthews Malebana.

He accused Moloi of moral bankruptcy and sleeping around and publicly celebrated his “enemy” Malebana’s death. He added that the former youth leader must “rot in hell”.

In a media release on Friday, March 4, ANC provincial secretary Ruben Madadzhe announced that the party’s provincial working committee (PWC) had resolved to place Mamabolo’s membership on temporary suspension for bringing the organisation into disrepute.

“At its meeting held on 1 April 2025, the ANC Provincial Working Committee resolved to place Comrade Boy Mamabolo on temporary suspension, pending the outcome of provincial disciplinary proceedings. This decision was taken in line with Rule 25.56 of the ANC Constitution,”  Madadhze’s letter stated.

The party further said Mamabolo was formally notified of his immediate suspension and they expect that he will comply with the conditions,  while the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC) processes his matter.

Mamabolo, a member of the ANC ward 13 branch under the City of Polokwane, hurled a vile insult at Kwakwa and Malebana following the latter’s passing on Sunday.

The ANC said it was left with no choice but to invoke Rule 25.9 of its constitution and institute disciplinary measures to safeguard the integrity of the organisation and prevent further harm to its reputation.

The temporary icing of Mamabolo’s membership comes after both the ANC Youth league and ANC Veterans League officially wrote to the provincial office asking the party take actions against him.

After his suspension, Mamabolo appeared unremorseful. In response to the suspension letter, he took to social media and doubled down.

“As if we getting paid for being Members, in fact i wanna remain a supporter and a Voter…plus regalia e tletse (filled) wardrobe, ke satlo e apara rekggggg, akere ke e rekile ka tshelete yaka ( i will still wear it, because I bought it with my money)”.

Limpopo ANCYL Provincial Secretary Pheanus Sebola said they welcomed the decision to suspend Mamabolo and wished the pending disciplinary process will correct his behaviour and character.

“In the end, we wish to have a renewed Boy Mamabolo with corrected behavior and character. The intention is to renew the movement not to harm it further,” Sebola said.

Before and after his suspension, Mamabolo appeared unremorseful.

Prior to his suspension, Mamabolo wrote an email to Linda Morula in the office of the Provincial Secretary demanding feedback on the letter he wrote on 26 March 2025.

In the letter, he requested ANC Limpopo to intervene on the alleged abuse of power by the Peter Mokaba regional task team (RTT) during the recent branch general meetings (BGMs).

However, Madadzhe’s office acknowledged Mamabolo’s letter but never responded. In his follow up email, the controversial former MP accused the Limpopo ANC of factionalism and gave Madadzhe until 12:00 on Friday to respond or face a legal challenge.

Mamabolo also threatened to apply for a court order forcing the ANC NEC to disband the Limpopo PEC for handling complaints with factional lenses.

However, just before his deadline, the party responded with a notice suspending Mamabolo’s membership temporarily.
