Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze looks set to become Arsenal’s third-highest transfer signing in their history.
Arsenal has agreed to a £67.5 million (R1.6 billion) deal to sign the forward.
The Gunners’ highest transfer fees are those of Declan Rice, who joined from West Ham United two years ago for £105 million (R2.5 billion) and Nicolas Pepe, who arrived from Lille for £72 million (R1.7 billion) in 2019.
Eze’s medical at Arsenal has been booked for Friday, and barring any further surprises, he’d become a Gunner, joining from Crystal Palace.
London rivals Tottenham Hotspur looked to have sealed the deal before Arsenal stepped in to beat their London rivals to Eze’s signing.
Interestingly, the 27-year-old was previously at Arsenal, in the youth academy, but was released by the club at age 13 and rejected by others before his breakthrough at Queens Park Rangers.
