Bafana Bafana will meet Czech Republic in the FIFA 2026 World Cup after the latter qualified for the tournament.
The Czech Republic beat Denmark in the playoff final on Tuesday to confirm their place in Group A.
The Central European nation joins co-hosts Mexico, Bafana Bafana, and South Korea in the group.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has admitted there is still a big room for improvement for his team. He was speaking after Bafana Bafana’s 2-1 defeat to Panama at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on Tuesday.
Broos acknowledged Bafana Bafana’s weakness of always conceding first, which has happened over a number of games, but also failing to take their chances in front of goal.
“I know that there are some weaknesses in the team. We can’t go with the level we have now to the World Cup. There has to be something more,” said Broos.
“Again, we can work on that certainly. Maybe there will be other players that we can see in the next months again that can make our team better and stronger. Again, I know that was not the goal of this game, to say, after the game, we are ready.
“It’s still three months to go, but again, it was interesting to see what we still need. This is something we are going to work on. OK.”
Bafana Bafana also appear to struggle in physical duels, and Broos is hopeful of finding solutions.
“It’s not a worry, but it’s something we have to work on,” he said.
“We have to be stronger. It’s not good to give too much space to players who are powerful.”
Bafana Bafana are the lowest ranked side in their World Cup group, as they are placed 60th in the world.
Mexico are ranked 15th, South Korea in 25th and Czech Republic in 41st spot.
