Italian side U.S. Lecce has brought in a defender of South African descent, Corrie Ndaba.

The 25-year-old has moved to U.S. Lecce on a three-year deal from Scottish side Kilmarnock.

“U.S. Lecce announces the permanent acquisition of Corrie Ndaba from Kilmarnock FC,” confirmed the Italians.

“The Irish fullback, born in 1999, has signed a three-year contract with an option for a further two years.”

Born in Ireland to a South African father and an Irish mother, Ndaba has turned out for the Republic of Ireland U18 and U21 teams but remains eligible to play for Bafana Bafana, as he has not featured for the Europeans’ senior side.

Ndaba came through the youth ranks of English club Ipswich Town but failed to break through to the first team and had loan spells with Hemel Hempstead Town, Chelmsford City, Ayr United, Salford City, Burton Albion, and Fleetwood Town before joining Kilmarnock.
