South Africa’s senior national women’s side, Banyana Banyana, is three games away from defending the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Banyana Banyana finished top of Group C with a dominant display to brush aside Mali 4–0 in Oudja, Morocco, on Monday.

Lebohang Ramalepe, captain Refiloe Jane, Hildah Magaia, and Ronnel Donnelly were all on the scoresheet.

In the quarter-finals, Banyana Banyana will meet Senegal on Saturday, 19 July, also in Oudja.

Senegal sneaked in as one of the third-placed best teams.

Should Banyana beat Senegal, their semifinals opponent will be Nigeria or Zambia.

Three years ago, South Africa defeated the hosts Morocco 2-1 to win their maiden title, and once again, they are showing signs of a team capable of winning the tournament.
