The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rescheduled the dates of this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to 25 July – 16 August 2026.
CAF confirmed the latest development in a statement released on Thursday.
“In October 2024, CAF granted the hosting rights for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 to Morocco and this tournament was scheduled for 17 March to 3 April 2026,” stated CAF.
“After discussions between CAF and its partners, FIFA and other stakeholders, CAF has decided to reschedule the dates of the WAFCON to ensure the success of this important women’s competition, in the light of certain unforseen circumstances.
“Preparations for the WAFCON 2026 are underway and all the parties are confident that it will be very successful.”
South Africa has put its hand up to host the tournament in light of reports that Morocco has pulled out.
