The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in partnership with sponsors TotalEnergies, have unveiled the new CAF Champions League trophy ahead of the 2024/25 final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids FC.
The two sides meet in first leg of the final on Saturday, 24 May, at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria, before the second leg in Cairo on Sunday, 1 June.
The trophy reveal took place at the offices of TotalEnergies in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.
It is the first time in almost two decades that the Champions League has a new trophy.
The last time the trophy was changed was in 2007, when Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia beat Egypt’s Al Ahly 3-1 on aggregate to claim it.
Sundowns and Pyramids now have an opportunity to be the first to get their hands on the new trophy, which is an upgrade of the old trophy.
CAF said the trophy is “modern” and “bigger” than the old version.
