The Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final draw has produced four exciting encounters, keeping South Africa’s traditional football giants apart as eight clubs battle for a place in the semi-finals and a share of the competition’s lucrative rewards.

Orlando Pirates will face Sekhukhune United, Kaizer Chiefs take on Siwelele FC, Mamelodi Sundowns meet Golden Arrows, while Stellenbosch FC will lock horns with AmaZulu FC.

The quarter-final matches are scheduled for the weekend of November 6–8, with venues still to be confirmed.

The seeded draw ensures that Pirates, Chiefs and Sundowns cannot meet before the semi-finals at the earliest. However, the big clubs will have to overcome determined opponents before they can start dreaming of lifting the trophy.
Sundowns’ clash against Golden Arrows is among the fixtures to watch, particularly following their dramatic meeting in the MTN8 semi-finals.

Sundowns overturned a first-leg defeat to beat Arrows 3–2 in the second leg on August 30, advancing 3–3 on aggregate through the away-goals rule.

That encounter adds another layer of intrigue to their upcoming cup battle, with Arrows eager to turn the tables and Sundowns determined to maintain their pursuit of silverware.

Pirates, meanwhile, face a potentially difficult test against Sekhukhune United, while Chiefs will need to be wary of Siwelele FC, who will view the encounter as an opportunity to eliminate one of the country’s most popular teams.

Stellenbosch and AmaZulu will also be determined to seize their opportunity, knowing that victory would bring them one step closer to the final.

The financial rewards provide further motivation, with the eventual champions set to receive R6.85 million, while the runners-up will take home R2.85 million.
