China Launches 5G+ Industrial Internet Programme

China has launched a pilot programme to integrate 5G and industrial internet technologies in ten cities to promote the qualitative development and widespread adoption of these advanced technologies.

The selected cities included Nanjing, Wuhan and Qingdao, among others. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that the focus will be on building 5G-enabled industrial clusters and innovation ecosystems that will set benchmarks both regionally and nationally. This is reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

MIIT stressed that these cities should leverage the latest developments in 5G and industrial internet to lead the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector, thereby driving new industrialisation efforts.

The ministry plans to roll out the pilot programme gradually and apply these technologies to other cities as well.
