The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has shared details of the Champions League final, which will be played over two legs between South African side Mamelodi Sundowns and Morocco’s FAR Rabat.

The first leg will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, on Sunday, 17 May at 14h00 GMT (16h00 local time), before the decisive return leg in Rabat on Sunday, 24 May at 19h00 GMT (20h00 local time).

The final brings together two former champions of Africa’s premier club competition, each aiming to reclaim continental glory.

Mamelodi Sundowns are chasing a second title following their triumph in 2016, while AS FAR are seeking to end a 41-year wait since their historic victory in 1985.

Beyond the prestige of lifting Africa’s most coveted club trophy, the finalists will also be competing for a record prize purse. CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe recently confirmed that the winners of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League will receive USD 6 Million, a 50% increase.
