Banyana Banyana head coach Dr Desiree Ellis has announced the squad to face Algeria in a friendly scheduled for next month.

South Africa’s senior women’s national team has confirmed a number of friendlies ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) later this year.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the WAFCON has been rescheduled to 25 July – 16 August 2026.

This week, South Africa’s Football Association (SAFA) also revealed that Banyana Banyana will play Japan in two away international friendlies.

The first match will take place at Nagai Ballgame Field, Osaka, on Saturday, 6 June 2026. The two teams will again clash three days later when they meet on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, at J-Green Sakai in Osaka.
