Brazilian side Flamengo enjoyed ball possession of 80% to ease past Africa’s Espérance in their FIFA Club World Cup Group D clash.
The two sides battled each other in the early hours of Tuesday morning, South African time, in Philadelphia, United States (US).
Flamengo dominated for the better part of the match, scoring through Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Luiz Araujo.
Esperance managed only two attempts on goal throughout the 90 minutes.
Flamengo found the back of the net as early as the 17th minute when Arrascaeta fired home.
Araujo then added another one in the second half to end Espérance’s dream of a good start.
Africa will next pin its hopes on Mamelodi Sundowns, who’ll be in action in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Tshwane side will clash against South Korean outfit Ulsan at the Inter & Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
On Wednesday evening, Moroccan team Wydad Casablanca will entertain Manchester City in Philadelphia.
