Nations strengthen partnerships in artificial intelligence and innovation, supporting digital transformation

Ethiopia and India have taken a new step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital innovation, marking a new phase in their technology partnership, reports ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The development follows a high-level visit by an Indian delegation, led by Ambassador to Ethiopia Anil Kumar Rai, to the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute in Addis Ababa. The visit highlighted expanding collaboration across key sectors, including agriculture, digital services and information and communication technologies.
According to the source, artificial intelligence is a core component of Ethiopia’s broader digital transformation agenda, aligned with the national “Digital Ethiopia 2030” vision. The strategy prioritises advancing AI research, developing local talent and deploying emerging technologies across critical sectors such as healthcare, education, manufacturing and public services.
The Indian side reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation in AI, emphasising shared demographic strengths, particularly a large and youthful population. Officials noted that leveraging advanced technologies will be essential to addressing future economic and social challenges.
Experts from the institute presented practical applications of artificial intelligence, demonstrating its role in improving agricultural productivity, enhancing industrial processes, expanding e-learning systems and strengthening data management in public administration.
The discussions also involved stakeholders linked to the African Union, reflecting the wider regional importance of digital transformation efforts and positioning Ethiopia as a growing hub for technological innovation in Africa.
Analysts say the expanding Ethiopia–India partnership in AI is expected to boost knowledge exchange, strengthen innovation ecosystems and contribute to long-term economic growth in both countries.
