Ethiopian Minister Outlines Three New Strategies For The Agricultural Sector

Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amante, emphasised that the new agricultural strategies focused on transforming food systems in Ethiopia are a fundamental indicator of the country’s commitment to food security and nutrition.

In conducting the initiative, the Ministry of Agriculture presented three key strategies: National Food Safety and Quality Strategy for Primary Agricultural Produce, National Nutrition Sensitive Agrifood Systems Strategy, and Post-Harvest Management Strategy.

Minister Girma emphasised that these strategies are central to ensuring food security, improving health and expanding economic prosperity, as well as being a means of supporting the living standards of the population. This is reported by ENA.

About 30% per cent of food in developing countries is lost between production and consumption, so one of the most important strategies is to minimise losses.
