Perennial offenders Zamalek are back in FIFA’s bad books yet again.
The Egyptians stand accused of refusing to pay their former player, Yasser Hamad.
The White Knights are fresh off bans after settling debts to former coach Jaime Pacheco and striker Khalid Boutaib.
Hamad, a Palestinian international, played just three matches for the club last year before things went sour between the two parties, leading to a parting of ways.
FIFA ruled that Zamalek must pay Hamad EGP 1.7 million (R609 000), but the club failed to comply, and that has resulted in a three-window transfer ban.
“The registration was suspended due (to money owed to) Palestinian defender Yasser Hamad, estimated at EGP 1.7 million. It will be paid (this week) to lift the ban,” says Zamalek board member, Amr Adham.
