Botswana club Matebele FC have handed Reneilwe Letsholonyane his first coaching job at the senior level.
The 43-year-old has signed a two-year contract to take over as Matebele’s head coach.
Letsholonyane has been on the coaching scene since his retirement years ago. He was previously in charge of AmaZulu’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team and has served the South African junior national teams.
And for his first senior coach role, he’s crossed the border into neighbouring Botswana.
“We are excited to welcome Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane as head coach of Matebele FC,” announced the club on Monday morning.
“Coach Yeye joins the team at a time when our focus as a club is shifting towards younger players. As a club, we have taken a deliberate decision to afford young players a chance to play (Botswana) Premier League football at a young age and to amplify recruitment from lower divisions.
“Coach Yeye has been working with young players since his retirement as a player, both at AmaZulu (DDC) and the SA U20 national team.
Letsholonyane, who started work on 30 August, holds a CAF A Licence.
