One of South Africa’s oldest and most popular football venues Orlando Stadium has adopted a new name.
Orlando Pirates, in partnership with Amstel, have officially announced the renaming of the historic Orlando Stadium to the Orlando Amstel Arena, on a five-year deal.
“The renaming symbolizes the strength of the partnership between the Buccaneers and Amstel, who joined forces late last year in a multi-year agreement,” stated the two parties, in a joint statement, released on Tuesday after the announcement at the venue.
Both brands emphasized that the collaboration is not only about naming rights but also about enhancing the matchday experience, celebrating the club’s heritage, and creating memorable moments for supporters.
“The Orlando Amstel Arena now stands as a fusion of football tradition and lifestyle branding, marking a bold step forward for one of South Africa’s most iconic clubs.”
The stadium was opened in 1959 and renovated in 2008, ahead of the FIFA 2010 World Cup, which was hosted by South Africa.
The Buccaneers have been tenants since 1970.
