Iran, Africa Establish Joint Committee On Agriculture

At the 2nd Iran-Africa Summit in Tehran, a joint Iran-Africa Agriculture and Water Resources Committee was established.

Representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture discussed prospects for co-operation as well as public and private sector experiences in water supply and irrigation. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

The opening ceremony of the event was attended by senior Iranian officials including President Ebrahim Raisi and Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Abbas Aliabadi.

President Ibrahim Raisi emphasised the importance of strengthening economic relations between Iran and African countries, noting the historical injustice of the plundering of African resources by Western countries.

“This meeting is a symbol of the will of African countries and Iran to expand economic relations,” he said.

Iran also expressed its readiness to participate in African countries and co-operate in the implementation of water and soil projects.
