The former leader of the Umkhonto Wesizwe Party (MK Party), Jabulani Khumalo, has lost yet another case in the Pretoria High Court, where he was claiming that he was unlawfully removed as the party’s director.
According to SABC News, the high court also slapped him with punitive costs after Adv Dali Mpofu SC, who was representing the MK Party, said Khumalo was abusing the courts and the matter should be withdrawn and a penalty be imposed on him.
The ruling was handed down on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.
The SABC News reported that he challenged what he termed as an unlawful removal as MKP director and approached the high court on an urgent basis.
He argued in court papers that the removal of his name was not only fraudulent but was not authorised, as he did not sign a valid resolution to have their names removed.
Arguing for the MK Party, Adv Mpofu contended that the court should not only dismiss the application but grant the party punitive costs because Khumalo’s application was an abuse of the courts.
Mpofu said, “Really let me summarise it like this, my Lord, the cumulative effect of all these factors my lord is such that your Lordship has no option but to send a message not just to this litigant but to other litigants out there, the courts are not here as some political playground and secondly cannot be abused in this manner,” the SABC News reported.
