Proteas bowler Kagiso Rabada’s five-wicket haul against Australia on Wednesday has seen him move past the great Allan Donald for most wickets in Test cricket for South Africa.

Rabada was in fine form on day one of the World Test Championship final between South Africa and Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, England.

Rabada now has 332 wickets, ahead of Donald [330] and only behind Dale Steyn [439], Shaun Pollock [421], and Makhaya Ntini [390] in the all-time list.

“Records are awesome. It means a lot to go past the legend Allan Donald, but that is secondary; the primary thing for us is this game,” said Rabada.

“Coming here about a week ago, I could already feel the atmosphere. Great to see the support for us. Feels like a home game. It means a lot to play for South Africa.”

Rabada helped dismiss Australia for just 212, but the reigning World Test Championship winners responded strongly, leaving South Africa in trouble at 43/4 at stumps.

The action continues on Thursday.
