
World football governing body FIFA has roped in Jessica Motaung to the Men’s Football Stakeholders Committee.
The 52-year-old Amakhosi administrator is amongst a host of Africans who have bagged FIFA roles in recent times.
The FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee is one of the nine standing committees of FIFA. It deals with the structure of the game between players, clubs, leagues, associations, and confederations within FIFA.
In 2023, Motaung was elected as the First Deputy Chairperson of the African Clubs Association (ACA) in Cairo, Egypt.
Earlier this month, former Premier Soccer League (PSL) referee Victor Gomes was appointed to the FIFA Referees Committee.
Gomes was a highly respected referee until his retirement after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“I am happy to contribute to the game on the continent and to the betterment of African refereeing,” Gomes said. “Thank you to FIFA, CAF, and SAFA for entrusting me with this big responsibility.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the ACA, Eng. Hersi Said, has been appointed as a Member of FIFA’s Men’s Club Competitions Committee, and Morocco Football Association (FA) president Fouzi Lekjaa joins the same committee as the first Council Member.
Cameroon FA president Samuel Eto’o is now the vice president of FIFA’s Laws of the Game Committee.
Kurt Okraku, president of the Ghana FA, takes over as chairman of the FIFA Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee.
Kenya FA president Hussien Mohammed has been appointed as a member of the Institutional Relations Committee, recognizing his dedication to strengthening football governance and development in Africa.
Other appointments:
Algerian FA President Walid Sadi as Deputy Chairman of the Stadiums and Security Committee.
Somali FA President Ali Abdi Mohamed as a member of the Grassroots and Amateur Football Committee.
Mr. Oabile Thona Tariq Babitseng, president of the Botswana FA, as vice president of FIFA Esports.
