Midfielder Yusuf Maart is on his way to Europe, ending a three-year stay at the Soweto club.
African Times has established that Maart’s move to Austrian club SV Ried was sanctioned by the Amakhosi management, and the player was allowed to remain in South Africa when they traveled to the Netherlands for pre-season training earlier this week.
“It’s a transfer from Chiefs, meaning they sold him. He’ll be leaving for Austria,” confirmed a source privy to the business dealings at Chiefs.
The 29-year-old, who turns 30 in eleven days, captained the Glamour Boys to their first trophy in about a decade when he scored the winner in the 2-1 win against Orlando Pirates in the 2025 Nedbank Cup final played in Durban back in May.
Overall, Maart has featured 95 times for Chiefs since 2022. He had joined the club from Sekhukhune United.
Maart will find a familiar face at SV Ried.
Based in Ried im Innkreis—70 km west of Linz, the third-largest city in Austria—SV Ried are home to South African winger Antonio van Wyk, who joined them last year.
As for Maart, Chiefs are expected to officially announce the transfer in the coming days.
