Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are facing some struggles this season, and the supporters have called for changes.

Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Junior has made it clear that the club is not happy. Chiefs have missed out on the Carling Knockout and the Nedbank Cup, while they were knocked out in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

In terms of the league, Chiefs are sixth on the log and a whopping 14 points behind the leaders, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We’ve had some very tough conversations, and we are not just sitting here looking at the situation. We are not happy with the situation,” said Motaung Jr., who was speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide.

“We are not happy with the performance right now. It’s not something we can accept, and we must make that clear. Everyone knows that if results don’t come, then decisions are taken.

“Rob, right now, what I can honestly say is that we are looking at our situation. We know that the results right now are unacceptable. This is not where we want to be.”

Quizzed on the current technical team guided by Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, Motaung Junior was noncommittal amid talks that there should be changes.

“I believe we need to be clear about where we want to be next season. We need to ensure we have the right person, the right players, the right people, and a very clear direction. We must be able to give ourselves the best opportunity to achieve our goals,” he continued.

Meanwhile, top coaches such as Pitso Mosimane and Benni McCarthy have been linked with the Amakhosi hot seat, and predictably, Motaung Junior declined to comment on the rumours.

“You are mentioning two top individuals who have achieved tremendous things in their careers,” he noted.

“(But) it would be unfair of me to sit here and talk about coaches when we have coaches on the team.

“We have our immediate mandate and responsibility to restore the pride and the hurt that’s happened to the nation and to the team. I can’t sit here and talk about individuals; it is not professional, and I don’t think it’s the right thing to do.”

Speaking about the supporters, Motaung Junior addressed issues relating to how he engages them. On social media, especially on X, Motaung Junior has resorted to blocking the individuals, though the supporters say the right thing to do would be to engage them.

“It’s a very strange one, that. Everyone is human, yeah. Everyone is free to operate their accounts how they feel, how they want to. We’ve got club channels where everyone is able to address us, call us directly,” he said.

“But if you are going to tweet and swear, people forget you are a human being. It’s part of my role. It’s part of things we expect in life… I’m not here blocking people on club issues. Imagine if I had to respond to every single tweet or anything on social media. One, it’s unprofessional, and two, there are the right channels to do so.”
