The model will enable more effective production decisions to be made

Staff at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) have developed a model for calculating and optimising oil production processes. It is designed to help engineers predict processes within an oil reservoir more accurately. This was reported by Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS.
Various technological methods are used in oil production, including water injection into the reservoir and maintaining reservoir pressure. To improve their efficiency, it is necessary to accurately model the physical processes occurring in the reservoir and optimally manage production parameters.
The computational model, developed by Kazakhstani scientists, combines physical laws, the capabilities of neural networks and quantum computing methods. This approach can improve the accuracy of calculations and help optimise oil production parameters. For example, optimising the parameters of reservoir stimulation will improve control over the water content in the extracted oil.
“We regard this area as one of the most promising for the implementation of quantum computing in applied scientific research in Kazakhstan,” said Aksultan Mukhanbet, Acting Associate Professor at KazNU.
The scientists plan to continue their research and expand the capabilities of quantum models to tackle problems related to the precise calculation and optimisation of oil production processes. According to the researchers, quantum computing in the oil and gas industry opens up new opportunities for solving complex problems that require powerful computing resources.
It is expected that this development will contribute to the implementation of domestic scientific solutions in high-tech manufacturing and the development of quantum technologies in Kazakhstan.
