South African striker Khanyisa Mayo is living on borrowed time at Algerian club CR Belouizdad.

Mayo, 27, has been with the North Africans for only one season, since joining them last year from Cape Town City for a reported transfer fee of $800,000 (R14 million).

Mayo has been left out of the CR Belouizdad squad for the season after the transfer window closed in Algeria on 31 August.

CR Belouizdad coach Sead Ramovic has confirmed that the forward is not in his plans for the 2025/26 season, leaving the door open for a possible departure.

In all, Mayo played 41 matches for CR Belouizdad, scoring six goals and one assist, but he is on the verge of an exit.

The player’s contract with CR Belouizdad will expire in June 2027, and as things stand, he may be sold or released, depending on the settlement.

Mayo was previously linked to Kaizer Chiefs back home, and whether Amakhosi would reignite their interest remains to be seen.
