The new King of South African football, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, has spoken and the Mamelodi Sundowns forward is delighted with his achievements.

The Brazilian has been named the PSL Footballer of the Season for 2024/25 and the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season. He also secured the Betway Premiership Goal of the Season and Golden Boot.

To say Ribeiro is happy with his season would be an understatement.

“It was not an easy season because we played too many games, but I’m very happy with myself for taking too many individual trophies,” said Ribeiro, who’s on the radar of Brazilian club Fluminense and Qatar SC.

He played 51 matches including three at the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring 21 goals, to go with 14 assists.

“But I don’t play alone, the players help me, my teammates and the club Mamelodi Sundowns, the support thank you. Thank you to the coach (Miguel Cardoso) because the guy put my level very, very high as a player, so I’m very happy.

“Everything, because everything is important to me. So everything is important to me because this season was crazy,” he added.

Ribeiro is expected to be in the Sundowns that will play Richards Bay in the MTN8 Quarter-finals, scheduled for the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
