Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has officially welcomed 140 newly appointed officials to the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, marking a significant expansion in the province’s public service. Since 2 December 2024, the department has appointed a total of 590 officials.
The new appointments follow recent recruitment at Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL), which last week welcomed 40 officials and is in the final stages of filling 13 more posts. The appointments include both internships and permanent positions, aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and service delivery across the province.
Premier Ramathuba urged the new recruits to approach their work with dedication and professionalism. “The province is counting on you—your energy, your ideas, your professionalism and your commitment. We need people who see work not as an obligation, but as an honour; people who understand that public service is a calling and that their work must be anchored in compassion, humility, and pride. Excellence is not optional,” she said.
MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, highlighted the responsibility placed on the new employees. “These officials will shape the quality of services delivered to our people,” he said, underlining the importance of their roles in supporting provincial infrastructure and development.
Among the new recruits, Violet Madigoe, appointed as a cleaner in Sekhukhune, expressed her gratitude. “This appointment means hunger is out. I’ve been an EPWP beneficiary, then it ended. I’m so happy today,” she said.
The department plans to equip the new officials with tools of trade as Premier Ramathuba is set to unveil a new white and yellow vehicle fleet on Wednesday, 3 December 2025. The fleet is intended to enhance operational efficiency and improve service provision across Limpopo.
