
A high-ranking official at the Mogalakwena Local Municipality in Limpopo is under investigation following the death of his girlfriend after an intense altercation at his house in Polokwane.
According to reports, the senior manager, whose name is known to the publication, allegedly ran over his girlfriend, Ndzalama Mlondobozi, with a vehicle as she was trying to leave after a heated argument.
The incident left Mlondobozi, 35, badly injured, and she later succumbed to her injuries.
The tragic incident happened on Tuesday, 20 May, at the municipal Project Management Unit (PMU) senior official’s house in Flora Park, Polokwane.
Limpopo police provincial spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed that police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and are awaiting post-mortem results to establish the woman’s cause of death.
“The case of Culpable Homicide has been registered for investigation at Polokwane Police Station. Postmortem is still to be conducted to establish the cause of death of a woman.
“No arrest has been effected, necessary statements are being obtained and as soon as investigations are complete, the Docket will be taken to Senior Public Prosecutor for a decision to be made,” Ledwaba said.
The 35-year-old woman was laid to rest this past weekend at her home in Muhlava village, Tzaneen.
Mogalakwena Municipality spokesperson, Malesela Selokela, could not be reached for comment at the time of this article’s publication.
