South African forward Thembinkosi Lorch has been honoured by Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca.
The 31-year-old has been named the club’s Player of the Month for March.
He got the nod ahead of Mohamed Moufid and Mohamed Rahyi, who were also nominated.
On loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, ‘Nyoso’ has impressed, and Wydad has apparently thought of keeping him beyond the expiry of his loan spell.
However, there are no guarantees that Wydad coach, Rulani Mokwena, who brought Lorch to the club, would be around for much longer.
Over the past few days, Wydad and Mokwena were locked in talks over his future, but the latter has declined a termination of his contract at this stage.
According to reports, Wydad are reluctant to pull the trigger because they would have to part with some good money if the two parties go their separate ways.
As things stand, Mokwena will keep his job.
