Betway Premiership reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns have made their first signing ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Left back Fawaaz Basadien has put pen to paper with the Brazilians.
“The Yellow Nation is proud to welcome Bafana Bafana international defender, Fawaaz Basadien,” the club announced on their social media platforms.
The details of the contract have not been released, but African Times has it on good authority that Basadien has signed for three years, with an option for a further two years.
The Tshwane side had been after the 28-year-old for months and finally got a deal over the line in the past 24 hours, resulting in the announcement on Saturday evening.
Winning a place in Sundowns’ left back position will certainly not be a walk in the park for Basadien.
Sundowns’ other options in that position include Divine Lunga, Aubrey Modiba, Terrence Mashego, and Asekho Tiwani, and youngster Thato Sibiya is also making his way up.
Basadien played 111 games for Stellenbosch and head to Sundowns confident he’d be a regular.
He has won five caps for Bafana Bafana since his debut against Uganda late last year.
