Tshwane club Mamelodi Sundowns has flexed its financial muscle again and this time brought in another South American player.
The 15-time Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions have snapped up forward Brayan León Muñiz.
Muñiz, 25, arrives at the Pretoria club from Independiente Medellín, who play in Colombia’s top flight.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Sundowns have paid a transfer fee of $3.5 million (R57.6 million) to sign Muñiz.
The South American market is familiar territory for Sundowns, who are nicknamed the Brazilians.
Currently, Sundowns have in their ranks the Chilean, Marcelo Allende, and Brazilian forward, Arthur Sales, while they have signed many South Americans in the past, including Argentinian Matias Esquivel, who was on loan in Greece and expected to return soon.
