Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has rejected a contract from Saudi side Al Hilal worth a staggering €40M a year (R808 million).
Using his home country’s currency, this works out to 70 billion naira.
Osimhen’s decision comes after his parent club, Italy’s Napoli, reached a club-to-club agreement with Al Hilal for a €75 million (R1.5 billion) transfer fee.
He spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray and his estimated gross salary there was €10 million (R202 million).
Al Hilal’s offer was for a deal until June 2028, but Osimhen would prefer to continue to play in Europe’s top leagues, which are widely considered the highest level of world football.
Based on reports, he’s on the radar of many top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.
