The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has expressed strong support for US President Donald Trump’s recent decision to confront terrorist groups responsible for the killing of Christians in Nigeria. The party condemned the ongoing violence, which has seen churches destroyed, entire communities displaced, and countless lives lost.

In a statement released in Saturday, Secretary-General Chinelle Stevens said the attacks carried out by Islamist extremists in Nigeria have gone on for far too long with little accountability or international response.

“It cannot be acceptable—morally, politically, or in terms of basic human rights—that the killing of Christians has become normalised or dismissed. Every human life matters,” Stevens said.

The party praised Trump for taking decisive action at a time when many global leaders have remained silent. Stevens noted that defending Christians against organised violence is not extremism, but a matter of human dignity. “President Trump demonstrated the courage to stand up for what he believes in and to act in defence of persecuted Christians,” she said.

While the attacks in Nigeria have predominantly targeted Christians, extremist violence has also affected Muslim civilians who reject extremist ideologies. Stevens highlighted that terrorism does not discriminate, affecting people of all faiths and backgrounds. She stressed that any security response must protect innocent civilians and emphasised that failure to act in the face of sustained violence constitutes a moral failure.

“Leadership requires difficult decisions, and courage requires action,” Stevens said. The party reiterated that the right to worship freely without fear of violence is fundamental and non-negotiable.

The party also underscored the importance of international solidarity with persecuted communities, noting that in many parts of the world today, Christians are increasingly made to feel they have no right to defend themselves or speak openly about their faith.

“We stand with Christian communities in Nigeria and throughout the world who continue to face violence, intimidation, and discrimination,” Stevens said.

The party vowed to continue speaking out against religious persecution in all its forms and to support those who defend the innocent when others remain silent. The statement concluded by reaffirming the party’s condemnation of terrorism and its commitment to human rights, calling on global leaders to hold perpetrators accountable and take meaningful action against religiously motivated violence.

The party’s position aligns with broader international concern over ongoing attacks in Nigeria, where terrorist groups have killed thousands, destroyed property, and forced millions to flee their homes in recent years.

Stevens emphasised that the fight against religious persecution requires both moral courage and practical action, praising Trump’s efforts as a step in the right direction.
