Free agent Percy Tau says he is open to all offers in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The 31-year-old is currently in South Africa following his exit from Qatar SC, where he played for six months after joining them from Al Ahly.

Tau conceded in a wide-ranging interview with sportscaster Robert Marawa that he grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs, and he remains on good terms with his former team, Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, the door is open for every club regarding his services.

“If that situation were to happen [getting an offer from Chiefs], of course I’ll have to pay attention to it where I’ve got no club and Chiefs say to me, ‘Come.’ But then, there are still other clubs in the PSL,” said Tau.

“I mean, I played for Sundowns, so I cannot write them off. It’s a team that I played for, and I’ve won [trophies]. I’ve got so much love for the team and the fans. So, I mean, if Sundowns were not to offer me a contract and Chiefs do, then okay. It’s not my fault but theirs that I’ve gone to join Chiefs.”

The Witbank-born, Mpumalanga, forward also threw Orlando Pirates into the mix.

“But I’ll listen to anybody; it does not rule out Orlando Pirates or even Stellenbosch, SuperSport (United). I will not rule out anyone. But then, my decision will be based on who gives me a contract. Of course, Sundowns, they’ve still got my love, but then it’d be based on who offers me a contract, because at the end of the day, I still have to support my family, and yeah, I’m not going to stick around because I love the club,” added Tau.

But at the same time, Tau finding a home in the PSL would be easier said than done, considering his reported earnings abroad. If reports are anything to go by, he was on approximately R21 million per year at Al Ahly.

Tau, who is the only South African player to win three CAF Champions League titles, is vastly experienced in the professional ranks, having played for Sundowns (South Africa), Qatar SC (Qatar), Al Ahly (Egypt), Union St. Gilloise (Belgium), Club Brugge (Belgium), Anderlecht (Belgium), and Brighton & Hove Albion (England).

Overall, he has played 324 games, scoring 75 goals and 68 assists at club level.

Tau, who also did not rule out a move to Asia, also boasts 50 Bafana Bafana caps and 15 goals in the senior national team colours.
