Tennis great Roger Federer has earned his place in the sport’s Hall of Fame for the Class of 2026.

Born to a South African mother and Swiss father in 1981, Federer went on to win 20 major men’s singles titles.

“It’s a tremendous honour to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame and to stand alongside so many of the game’s great champions,” said Federer.

He was ranked as the world No. 1 in men’s singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for 310 weeks (second-most of all time), including a record 237 consecutive weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 five times.

Federer also won 103 singles titles on the ATP Tour, the second most since the start of the Open Era in 1968.

“Throughout my career, I’ve always valued the history of tennis and the example set by those who came before me. It was very special to receive the news at Swiss Tennis, surrounded by the next generation of players — the place where my own journey first began,” he continued.

“To be recognised in this way by the sport and by my peers is deeply humbling. I look forward to visiting Newport next August to celebrate this special moment with the tennis community.”

The Class of 2026 will be officially inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame during the Induction Celebration in Newport, Rhode Island, from 27 to 29 August 2026.
