NEBO – A 38-year-old man, Themba Makweng Mogoru from Mochadi village in the Glen Cowie area, has appeared in the Nebo Magistrates’ Court this afternoon for allegedly killing his 79-year-old mother, contravening the protection order and defeating the ends of justice.

The court heard that on the 19th of August 2025, the deceased, Johanna Nalane Mogoru (79), had obtained a protection order to prohibit her son from assaulting, threatening to kill and entering her home.

On the same day, the accused allegedly stabbed the deceased several times, and he was found by a witness cleaning the blood in his mother’s room.

He then confessed about the incident to the witness. The police were called, and the accused was arrested thereafter.

The Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in the region Mashudu Malabi Dzhangi said the matter was postponed to September 02, 2025 for a formal bail application. The accused remains in custody.
