Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced the finalists for the 2025 MLS Year-End Awards, with South African coach Bradley Carnell vying for the Coach of the Year accolade.
The Philadelphia Union mentor guided the team to their second Supporters’ Shield title.
In 2025, Carnell won three Coach of the Week awards and led Union to the best defence in the league.
The first-year Union coach also became just the third coach in MLS history to lead multiple clubs to at least 55 points in his debut season.
The former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs left back is nominated alongside Jesper Sørensen (Vancouver Whitecaps) and Mikey Varas (San Diego FC).
The MLS Year-End Award winners will be announced over the coming weeks, culminating in the presentation of the MLS MVP award in early December during the week of the MLS Cup.
Carnell became Philadelphia Union’s fourth head coach in franchise history on 2 January, 2025.
The 48-year-old has been coaching in the MLS since 2017, from his days with the New York Red Bulls.
