Sporting Clube de Portugal has secured the full economic rights of Mozambican talisman footballer, Geny Catamo, from Black Bulls FC for €1 million, the Mozambican club announced on Wednesday.

“We are pleased to announce the conclusion of an agreement worth €1 million, an amount exceeding the €600,000 initially set in the contract,” said Black Bulls, reigning champions of the Moçambola (mozambique league), in an official statement.

The Lisbon club will pay the amount in three annual instalments across 2025, 2026, and 2027.

The definitive acquisition of Geny Catamo’s economic rights by Sporting represents another firm step in the consolidation of the youth development and talent promotion strategy of Black Bull.

Catamo, 24, was born in Maputo and began his career at CD Maxaquene before rising to prominence at Black Bulls. He joined Sporting in 2019 and made his debut for the senior team in December 2021. He became the second Mozambican ever to appear in the UEFA Champions League and has since been a regular in the first team. This season, he will wear the number 10 jersey.

He was part of the Sporting squad that won back-to-back Portuguese league titles in 2024 and 2025 and played a key role in winning the Portuguese Cup in May, completing the club’s first domestic double in over 70 years.
