Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau could be on his way back to Egypt.
The 30-year-old currently turns out for Qatar SC on a six-month deal, following his exit from Al Ahly.
The left-footed striker is a popular figure in Egypt after his 126 appearances for Al Ahly and a 44-goal contribution (30 goals and 14 assists) from the time he arrived at the club in 2021 until his departure earlier this year.
He won 12 titles with Al Ahly, including two CAF Champions League trophies.
With Tau on a short-term deal with Qatar, journalist Amir Hisham, who was speaking on the Plus 90 program on Al-Nahar TV, has claimed that Tau has been offered to Zamalek, who are bitter rivals with Al Ahly.
This is not the first time Tau has been linked to the White Knights.
He was reportedly on Zamalek’s radar towards the end of his stay at Al Ahly.
Zamalek are said to be keen yet again, and with him set to be a free agent in just a few months’ time, it would appear that Tau’s return to Egypt is not out of the question.
